First Possible Hostile Takeover in Biotech

by @ 10:14 am.  Filed under Pharma News

Seems Genzyme doesn’t want to take no for an answer in their bid to acquire AnorMED.

Genzyme to Make Offer for AnorMed - New York Times

NY Times reports that Genzyme may try a hostile takeover which would be a first in the Biotech industry. some worry that if Genzyme does succeed, then key people within AnorMED will just leave. I’m not sure that’s the case and AnorMED is already having their own troubles with shareholder dissent.

This will be an interesting story to follow and see if the first hostile takeover will occur in Biotech. My opinion is that a hostile takeover won’t occur. Genzyme will raise its offer and eventually AnorMED will accept it and become part of Genzyme. That’s just my best guess as to what will happen..
