Here is a list of some resources related to science and chemistry. These sites have been chosen based on the quality of the information provided and their general usefulness. This list is not meant to be complete and many more sites are covered in the training course Chemical Resources on the Internet.
American Chemical Society Publications. This site allows you to search the ACS journals.
Royal Society of Chemistry Search Engine. This site allows you to search through the journals from the Royal Society of chemistry.
Chemical Society of Japan Search Engine. This site allows you to search the Chemical Society of Japan journals.
Chemistry.org. This site is a portal for chemistry information and has a unique reaction search capability. Very useful!
PSI Chemistry Gateway. Another great source of chemistry information.
LincOn. This site is a compilation of chemistry related search sites including the American Chemical Society publications and other interesting chemistry related sites.
NIST Chemistry Webbook. This site from the National Institute of Standards and Technology offers several ways to search for chemical information.
Search with Articles@INIST. This site allows searching for journals books, etc. in the catalog at the Institut de l'Information Scientifique et Technique.
IUPAC search site. This site allows you to search through the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry site.
Spectral Database of Organic Compounds SDBS. This site allows you to search a database of spectral data. Very useful and unique.
ChemExper Search Site. This site allows you to search by name, molecular formula, and CAS number.
Online Journal Search Engine. While a little confusing, this site allows you to enter your search terms once and then search a variety of sources, but only one at a time. However, you can then choose another site and search again without re-entering your search terms.
Chemistry Conferences. A great site to see what conferences are coming up.
ChemSpy Search. ChemSpy is a chemistry portal that also has search capabilities.
ChemIdustry Search. A site to search for suppliers, equipment, software and other resources.
ACS Meeting Posters and Presentations Search. This site allows you to search through the ACS National meetings presentations and posters.
Chmoogle This search engine allows you to perform structure searches for chemical compounds in various formats such as SMILES (Simplified Molecular Input Line Entry System) and WLN (Wisswesser Line Notation). It also has a Java Molecular Editor to allow you to draw structures. You can also search by CAS number, IUPAC name, common name, and trade name. One of the very best chemistry related search sites.
ChemIDplus. This site allows for searching by structure and substructure as well as in a variety of other ways. Data is from TOXNET ®
ChemFinder. From the makers of Chemdraw, ChemFinder is a database allowing you to search for chemicals by structure or substructure as well as by name or CAS number.
Science.gov. If you want to find information from the US government this site is for you.
Scirus Search Engine. One of the best science based search engines.
